Chillbies Is the Emerging Footwear Brand That's Taking on Kanye's Red Wing Boots Trend
Choose from highs, mids, or lows.
The start of 2022 was wild, with Kanye West and Julia Fox of Uncut Gems and “Josh Safdie’s muse” fame coming together for a partnership that was part PDA, part styling exercise, and with that came many infamous looks such as Ye’s foray into making Red Wing Shoes’ 17-inch safety boots the next “it” footwear style. However, it seems the Kanye affect is as strong as ever, as GOAT released the boot in augmented reality and now retailers such as Très Bien are buying into the trend, stocking the emerging Salt Lake City-based footwear brand Chillbies.
Chillbies was created in 2019 and has previously collaborated with Dancer Copenhagen. While relatively unknown, Chillbies’ aesthetic captures that awkward intersection between a Balenciaga runway show dominated by Demna’s subversive takes on high fashion and workwear, something Kanye — and the fashion world – is known for toying with.
The brand offers three styles: high, mid, and low. The high-tops are the star pair in question, akin to Red Wing Shoes’ style and other high-end brands’ offerings, but come in at just $140 USD. Black rubber makes up the entire design, while a small logo on the lateral denotes its durability.
All designs are waterproof, although the low pair is a mule so even though the uppers are repellent your feet are unprotected, unlike the boot. Take a look at all three style above, and keep and eye on the brand as it surely grows. All can be bought on Très Bien’s website now, as well as on Chillbies’ own webpage.
