The Sotheby’s “Modern Collectibles” auction has already got sneakerheads talking following the unveiling of its first lot, a complete set of Virgil Abloh’s Off-White™ x Nike “The Ten” in pristine condition, but now much more is set to be on offer in its 34-lot auction. While this collection might be the star attraction, plenty more are set to have die-hard fans dreaming of what’s on offer, notably highly sought-after collaborations from Kanye West and even some signed game sneakers and sports memorabilia.
For starters, Kanye’s Nike Air Yeezy II “Red October” in mint condition is up for grabs with an estimate of $10,000 — $15,000 USD, as are two pairs of Nike MAGs from 2016 and 2011, set at $60,000–$80,000 USD and $25,000 — $40,000 USD respectively. Likewise, deadstock Nike Air Jordan 1 High OGs in the “Chicago” colorway from 1985 promise a price of $12,000 – $18,000 USD, while the Louis Vuitton x Supreme skateboard comes in at $10,000 — $15,000 USD.
On the slightly more affordable side of things, “Modern Collectibles” offers Virgil Abloh-signed “UNC” AJ1s for $5,000, a 2021 Panini National Treasures “Assistant to the Traveling Secretary ” card for $1,000 USD, and a pair of KAWS AJ4s for up to $3,500 USD.
Regardless of the estimated prices set on each item, recent auctions across all genres have shown how outrageous prices for sought-after items can get. Whether it’s $350,000 USD for the first Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 by Virgil Abloh, $6.2M USD for the Tiffany Patek, or a record-breaking $2M USD for the Porsche Carrera GT, the second-hand sales market is booming more than ever. With that in mind, “Modern Collectibles” and its array of goods — including the Scarr’s Pizza AF1 that could fetch over $40,000 USD, is more than likely to sell for far more than the estimates imply.
