Palace Brought the LA Heat in Latest Mercedes-AMG Collaboration
HYPEBEAST caught up with Lev Tanju at the brand’s West Hollywood flagship to speak more.

The LA heat was cranked a few degrees higher this past Wednesday, as Palace unveiled one of four art cars and their latest clothing collaboration with Mercedes-AMG. Housed at the streetwear giant’s West Hollywood shop, guests were invited to food, drinks and the latest sport-inspired capsule.
For those who haven’t been to their LA flagship, it’s truly special. Like walking into a Roman villa, like those seen in Ancient Pompeii, but with subtle nods to the Palace ‘P’ all throguhout. A number of celebrities and guests from the skate community were also in attendance, including Atiba and Ako Jefferson, Dree Hemingway and Will.i.am and Cooper Hoffman, along with Jessica and James Hart.
As the second partnership with AMG, the first of which saw the two create a clothing-heavy collection with a custom race car, founder Lev Tanju told HYPEBEAST that he wanted to see “what could be possible with the cars, seats and everything.” The result was four flashy whips that carried all the charm, craftsmanship and novelty that reinforces why Palace is a king of collaborations. “We just want to add something positive and different — like nothing you’d ever expect from AMG and turning a bit of fun into it,” he added.

“We always just stay true to what we love and work with brands that we admire and can learn something from.”
Of the four one-off art cars produced, Tanju particularly liked the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ PALACE Edition/”Neon Fade New York,” along with the Mercedes-AMG G 63 PALACE Edition/”Space Horse Tokyo” — the latter of which could equally have represented LA as much as the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+ PALACE Edition/”Sunset LA” that was on display.
Although humor is a big part of the brand’s success, quality and craftsmanship is never sidelined. Their groundbreaking Juventus capsule, amongst many, is a testament to that. This partnership with AMG is no different — each garment is made with timeless workwear in mind, with added flare that has become emblematic of the brand.
“We always just stay true to what we love and work with brands that we admire and can learn something from. We love working with people who are the best in their field — like how much we care about skateboarding, skate videos and clothing — people who give that much attention to everything they do,” said Tanju.
The second Palace x Mercedes-AMG collection is set for both in-store and online releases starting March 25, 11 a.m. GMT and EDT on the brand’s official webstore, and in Japan on March 26, 11 a.m. JST on the Palace Japan webstore, and on the official “Palace_Skateboards” WeChat store March 26, 11 a.m. CST.
