The adidas Originals NMD turns seven years old in 2022, and now the pair is in its third rendition as the NMD_V3 which has previously come in the launch “Utility Green/Legend Ink/Gold Metallic” colorway and now this stealthy “Core Black” version has arrived.
The NMD_V3 continues adidas’ mission to become more sustainable and achieves this by eschewing the use of Primeknit in favor of a material made from at least 50% recycled content, which helps to end the brand reduce plastic waste. To give the upper structure, adidas has coated it in a film that shows the embedded crosshatch pattern, particularly focusing on areas such as the Three Stripes that are stitched into the uppers.
Touches of OG NMD appear throughout this pair’s design, from the webbing strap that’s branded on the tongue with adidas’ tagline in German, a heel tab on the rear, and a heel clip that echoes the original design only now it’s made from a semi-transparent rubber.
Naturally, a full-length BOOST sole unit appears in black alongside its rubberized covering that alters the NMD’s aesthetic while harking back to the original pairs’ midsole plugs.
Take a look at the adidas Originals NMD_V3 “Core Black” above, and pick up a pair from adidas’ regional Australian website on March 14 for $240 AUD (approx. $175 USD).
