Inventive Layering With a Vintage Touch Rounds up New York Fashion Week FW22 Street Style
Styling creativity is emphasized in bold accessories and oversized silhouettes.

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022 has kicked off the season’s fashion month. Creative layering served cozy street style, incorporating vintage styles with modern silhouettes. Show-goers were spotted wearing ’90s style accessories including varsity jackets and oversized biker leather jackets as their main statement pieces.
This season’s street style continues to show that New York City is a masterclass in curating wardrobes that take from the old and the new. Vintage pieces paired with high-fashion branded apparel such as a Gucci x North Face puffer jacket and a shearling coat picked from the archives of Prada‘s FW14 collection, and indie designer pieces paired with quintessential streetwear brands of the likes of Supreme, come together for an inventive amalgamation of the street and couture aesthetic.
Head accessories including vibrant balaclava masks, made popular by Gucci FW18 were a noticeable staple amongst show attendees. Other hat accessories were added to elevate streetwear outfits for a weather-appropriate look. Monochrome suiting was also spotted amongst show-goers proving that there is always room for interpretive luxe formalwear. Relaxed tailoring is still king, with many choosing to wear bold and vibrant hues and textured overcoats to stand out amongst the crowd.
FW22 reminded fashion week onlookers on the importance of accessorizing. Whether it is through a Bottega Veneta Jodie Knotted bag or a pair of LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza sunglasses for an added focal point on the outfit, no look is complete without an accessory. Puffer jackets continue to dominate the streets as statement pieces for cozy and warm looks for New York City’s cold, harsh winters.
