Daniel W. Fletcher Rocks On for Fall 2022
Paying homage to his late dad Pete and the memories they shared.

Daniel W. Fletcher talked HYPEBEAST through his Fall 2022 collection before his return to London Fashion Week, noting how until his dad passed at the end of 2021, he hadn’t realized how much of a style influence his father Pete was. Fletcher went on to explain how his dad’s taste in music, specifically The Rolling Stones, and other ’70s rock icons became a part of this darker side of Fletcher’s work, and for this season, it was a momentous return to form for the British designer.
Taking over the opulent space of One Marelybone last weekend, Fletcher filled the room with his team (who got their own band T-shirt in homage of the rock icons that inspired the collection), as well as close friends, his family, and collaborators such as Tom Daley who hand-knitted Manchester United-inspired scarves for the collection.
It was a personal affair, those close to Daniel understood the catharsis in this presentation. Unarguably an LFW highlight, Daniel W. Fletcher Fall 2022 opened with deep blue leather suits and preppy private schoolboy shirts that soon informed padded blousons.
A shift came when Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence” played. A red leather coat with a fluffy, furry collar could have been modeled by Mick Jagger, while silky tops underneath once again referenced Pete’s love for football. Typical Fletcher tropes such as form-fitting halter-neck tops in light blue stripes brought some sexiness, while patchwork jeans contrasted this for something that wasn’t typical of Fletcher — perfectly executed as per usual, of course, but somewhat grungier.
A red and white leather vest continued the nods to the game, while the designer’s usual array of heavy silk garments also appeared. Throwing something into the works were hand-painted denim jackets and jeans that are said to form a wider collaboration with Courvoisier, with more of the same appearing in the form of silk shirts underneath hand-knitted jumpers by Lucy Higgens.
Ending the show were suits, shirts, and blazers, but it was the Noel Stewart-made head-pieces that stole the show, looking to The Rolling Stones’ 1973 album Goats Head Soup for inspiration.
