SCRY™ Lab is at the forefront of 3D printing advancement, using the method to craft out-of-this-world silhouettes for the futuristic sneakerhead within you — and now its “Thermal Runaway” collection has exclusively dropped at London’s APOC STORE.

Helmed by Zixiong Wei, SCRY™ Lab has come leaps and bounds since it first debuted its Shuttle Shadow sneaker. While it still stands as a conceptual piece of footwear, it has nothing on what the label has since produced. As put by the imprint itself, the new “Thermal Runaway” collection “explores the interference and coupling in chaotic irregular motion of environment. The project attempts to reproduce the behavior of the thermal runaway disorder in the laboratory environment, and through the surreal vision to imply its ambiguous relationship with the rationality of reality.”

Dissecting this, we find sneakers made of layers, lattice structures, curvilinear textures, and angular attributes in a collection constructed from its famed 3D printing method. From pairs that gear towards a sneaker world to others that reminisce a pair of heels, the traditional undertones are there — only completely subverted for an alien universe.

Perhaps the most daring is the Crest High, coming in the label’s classic “Shadow” black colorway. Sitting high on a multi-level platform, the sneaker combines a low-top design up top and stacking beneath with ridges, venting, and gaping holes in its sole unit. Likewise, the use of holes can be found across multiple pairs, giving the shoes an extra nudge into the future, looking as if they are floating.

All of the sneakers are available from APOC STORE’s website on a made-to-order basis. Take a closer look at the pairs above.

Elsewhere, here are this week’s biggest footwear drops.
