Porsche recently held a gallery event at concept retail space HBX New York to celebrate the launch of its Soul Electrified: The Current Within artworks. The digitally rendered pieces, made in collaboration with artists Rodolfo Hernandez, Travis Brothers and Isha Dipika Walia, were displayed on massive lightboxes that fully showcased the intricate detailing achieved to create these awe-inspiring visuals. Porsche took over the entirety of HBX’s third floor where guests were treated to light bites, cocktails and music provided by New York’s own DJ Niara Sterling.
Upon arriving at HBX in the city’s Chinatown neighborhood, attendees were instantly greeted by the sight of an ultra sleek Carmine Red Porsche Taycan Turbo. Glowing red LED lights illuminated the car’s windows and undercarriage, giving this impressive Taycan a futuristic feel, especially against the backdrop of the cold winter evening. Guests followed a vibrant red light, representing the iconic Porsche taillights, through the HBX entry and up to the event space, which was flooded with this same dramatic coloring.
All four artworks were on full display on the third floor with the massive lightboxes illuminating every corner and crevice of the digitally-made designs. Guests were instantly immersed by the sight of Porsche’s Soul Electrified: The Current Within exhibit which was inspired by the electric experience of the Porsche Taycan and its connection to human emotions. For their collaboration, Rodolfo Hernandez, Travis Brothers and Isha Dipika Walia focused on the special bond between car and driver, and how one can electrify each other in a symbiotic way.
The works highlight the innovative parts that make up the Porsche Taycan, from its motor components, frame, down to the interior. These elements were then integrated with human attributes such as muscles, skeletal features, veins, vessels and the heart. The human traits are meant to electrify and give life to the car components, the same way electricity drives the Taycan. The works also represent how our senses energize our emotions and will to create. Respectively, Soul Electrified: The Current Within defines the human identity—we as humans are sometimes identified by the car we drive. The Porsche Taycan is a clear reflection of a person’s discerning taste, eye for beautiful design and personal values.
As the evening went on, DJ Niara Sterling turned up the pace with high-energy sets of funk, hip-hop and afrobeats. Artists Rodolfo Hernandez, Travis Brothers and Isha Dipika Walia were all in attendance and had the chance to chat with guests about Porsche and its commitment to enabling dreamers and uplifting artists by allowing them to express their singular creativity. Other attendees for the night included outstanding creatives such as photographer Tyler Mitchell, skateboarder Keith Hardy, musician Yves, artist Hassan Rahim, designers Carlton and Tulie Yaito and more. It was an unforgettable, electrifying evening filled with art, excitement and stylish individuals. Porsche’s Soul Electrified: The Current Within event was an experience for the senses, harnessing both the energies of the automotive world and the spirit of the creative community.
