Montblanc is ushering in the Lunar New Year with one of its most luxurious writing instruments to date. Named The Earthly Dragon, the fountain pen celebrates one of the most mythical creatures in East Asian culture, the dragon — representing luck, wealth, wisdom, and power.

Harnessing that fortune, the instrument features an Au 750 white gold cap, a hand-engraved dragon set with precious stones, and a solid champagne-tone gold cone with a Tsavorite. The gold nib bears a fine engraving of a symbol standing for Fu Xi, the 8th son of the dragon. The entire cap top is made from solid gold with a Montblanc diamond crown. Limited to eight examples, Montblanc’s Earthly Dragon is priced at $168,000 USD.
