Ahead of the 2023 Oscars, Disney and Marvel Studios are setting their sights on taking home a few of the prestigious trophies. According to the official “For Your Consideration” site, Disney is nominating its major films released this year, Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Amidst word of the “decreasing” quality of its Marvel Studios films and their place in the world of cinematography, all three films are put up for the Best Picture Academy Award. The films are also targeting nominations for Best Director, VFX, Costume Design, Adapted Screenplay, and many more.

Many are noting that Angela Bassett, who plays Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, could be a front-runner for Best Supporting Actress. The actress has been nominated for the award in the past but has never picked up the trophy.

The Academy will be going through the considerations and announcing the official nominees for the 2023 awards in the coming months.
