The career trajectory of Sander Lak is one that many aspirational fashion dreams are made of. Having studied at London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins, Lak eventually went on to work for major brands including Balmain, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Dries Van Noten. Yet, after a short-lived stint of designing for his own Sies Marjan label, the Dutch designer closed shop in 2020 amidst the devastating times of the pandemic.

As a proper tribute and adequate reflection of a design career that ignited the fashion industry and placed Sies Marjan atop buyers, consumers and editor’s wish lists, Lak has released a hardcover book titled The Colors of Sies Marjan by Sander Lak to commemorate and celebrate the beloved brand.

The new book – published by Rizzoli New York – is 7” x 10” and features 400 pages of text along with 300 color illustrations. Encapsulated within the new tome are archived collection images that highlight Lak’s signature design color aesthetic, personal photos of Lak with family members, behind-the-scenes moments captured at the designer’s runway shows, and inspirational mood board images.

In addition to Lak’s firsthand perspective, the book’s foreword is penned by celebrated American artist Elizabeth Peyton.

The Colors of Sies Marjan by Sander Lak is now available to purchase for $65 USD, and can be found on the Rizzoli website.

Elsewhere in fashion, Coca-Cola® received a style revamp from the emerging label PRIVATE POLICY.
