Royal College of Art Announces New Virgil Abloh Scholarship
A new scholarship for disadvantaged Black British students.

The Royal College of Art (RCA) in London has officially announced a new scholarship in honor of the late innovator Virgil Abloh. The press release from the school has set up the RCA Virgil Abloh Scholarship for disadvantaged Black British students.
The scholarship pays tribute to Abloh’s dedication to education. RCA announced that the full tuition fee scholarship will begin next year for an extraordinary talent who is financially restricted on any School of Design program and will total to £35,000 GBP. The press release states, “This initiative aims to help break down barriers to education and support the next generation of visionary designers and innovators.”
Aside from a full-ride scholarship, the student will also receive industry experience and networking opportunities with the support of British fashion designer Samuel Ross and fellow creative industries partners through their studies. Abloh has had a long-standing relationship with the school, joining as an Honorary Visiting Professor in 2020. He has often voiced that supporting the next generation of creatives is an important way of moving culture forward. The scholarship aims to champion equal opportunity across the creative industries. The scholarship will apply to all areas of the RCA School of Design postgraduate study including, fashion, Textiles, Design Products, Service Design and Intelligent Mobility.
The RCA Virgil Abloh Scholarship has been established with the support of Shannon Abloh and the team at the Fashion Scholarship Fund in the U.S.
