CMMAWEAR's "Dive: Birth Of The Cool" Ushers in a New Era
The brand’s third collection arrives in cassette-inspired “Side A” and “Side B” parts.

For its second anniversary, CMMAWEAR has presented the lookbook for its third collection, “DIVE: Birth of the Cool.” Founded in 2020 by partners Giz Moon and Val Choi, who some may recognize from YouTube and social media, CMMAWEAR is one of the most talked about brands coming out of South Korea known for its cutting-edge utilitarian pieces. Pronounced “comma wear,” the label serves as a physical reminder to take time in life for introspection.
The upcoming collection marks the brand’s entry into a new phase in which its design forms and communication methods become more prominent. Building upon the concept of “Dive,” a mix of natural tones such as beige, gray, and black harmonize with different shades of blue to represent swimming in deep water, meanwhile, the wavy silhouettes feature ripple-like textures and asymmetric flowing lines.
Inspired by the A and B sides of cassettes and records, CMMAWEAR divides its collection into two parts. The eight-piece Side A part is for a more general audience, incorporating simpler, lighter, and more accessible everyday wear. On the other hand, the four-piece Side B focuses on exclusivity and extravagance, implementing details, hardware, and fabrics that are available in small quantities. The pieces do not compromise on quality and are made at the in-house CMMAWEAR Lab atelier.
One of the many highlights this season include the tactical padded vest, a gift that keeps giving which comes loaded with details including a magnetic fastening mechanism for one-hand operation, Cobrax press buttons which form a geometric shape, a variety of hidden pockets with innovative closures, and versatile two-way straps.
“One of my goals two years ago was to show everyone who wants to run their own brand that it is possible to compete and grow at a high level without investors, loans, less wholesale if you take the right steps,” writes Giz. Thank you to everyone who has supported our vision. We could not have done it without you.”
More visual work can be found on the brand’s website to assist consumers in not only finding pieces but also understand the concept of the season and experience the brand. A section dedicated to the sources of inspiration behind the series is also currently being prepared. Stay tuned for release details.
