Following Crypto.com‘s purchase of the naming rights for the Los Angeles stadium formerly known as Staples Center in late 2021 and Spotify‘s announcement that it will be sponsoring FC Barcelona‘s historic Camp Nou home stadium, it’s now been reported that Google is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur to become its naming sponsor. The Spur’s state-of-the-art 62,850-capacity stadium reportedly cost around £1 billion GBP (approximately $1.1 billion USD) and has been open since 2019. Reportedly looking for a deal upwards of $250 million USD, the Spurs have yet to find a suitable sponsor in the past four years.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium currently serves as the venue for the club’s Premier League and Champions League home matches as well as other special events including regular NFL matches, rugby league’s Challenge Cup Final, major boxing title fights, and concerts. On the other hand, Google currently has agreements with sports teams including the NBA, MLB, and most recently, the McLaren Racing Formula 1 team. If realized, Google will join Tottenham’s other sponsors which include shirt sponsor AIA, Nike which provides the main kits, and official sleeve sponsor Cinch.

Stay tuned for more details as the talks develop.
