Shelflife x Air Jordan 2 Is Jordan Brand’s First Sneaker Collab With an Africa-Based Partner
Insole graphics are symbolic of the the retailer’s ubuntu team spirit.
To close out the month of October, Jordan Brand is linking up with various retailers across the globe to further build upon the strong momentum of the Air Jordan 2. TITAN of the Philippines, Two 18 of Detroit, Michigan and Shelflife of South Africa have all been tapped to execute their own rendition of the silhouette’s low-cut version, the latter of which has been officially announced by Jordan Brand. This upcoming project marks the Michael Jordan‘s imprint’s very first collaboration with an Africa-located partner.
From the exterior’s perspective. brighter neutral tones are set across the upper and midsole pieces. Suede toe boxes and quarter panels as well as the accompanying smooth leather overlays and scaly collars are all fitted with a creamy paint job while notes of beige are placed onto the heel pieces and mid-foot trimming. Pops of bold orange poke out through the tongues and outsoles while the laces complement via their green accents. Graphics are positioned along the insoles and reference the Africa-based store’s ubuntu team spirit: “I am because we are.”
Alongside the kicks will be a range of apparel items including pullover hoodies, crewneck sweatshirts and tees that are decorated with Jordan branding and nods to South Africa.
Shelflife’s stores in Cape Town and Johannesburg as well as its online site will be dropping these come October 21.
