With the success that Quentin Tarantino has had throughout his career, the legendary director has garnered the right to put his professional stamp on what he ought to think are the best films ever made in the history of Hollywood.

In a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Pulp Fiction director revealed a short list of just seven film he thinks are untouchable and simply the best films of all-time. In his new book Cinema Speculation, Tarantino claimed that the 1974 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is considered the only “perfect” film ever made. Jimmy Kimmel asked him to divulge further on this comment, questioning the director if any other films make his list. Tarantino said, “Well, there’s not many of them – that just bemoans that the film art form is hard.” He added, “Look, when you say perfect movies you’re talking about any individual person’s aesthetic but even trying to account for all aesthetics…perfect movies kind of crosses all aesthetics to one degree or another.” Tarantino later continued his explanation that his perfect seven films may not be other’s “cup of tea” as everyone has their own favorites, “There’s nothing you can say to bring it [that list] down.”

Tarantino revealed that in addition to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, his top seven films include, Jaws (1975), The Exorcist (1973), Annie Hall (1977), Young Frankenstein (1974) and Back to the Future (1985). He then added Sam Peckinpah’s 1959 western film, The Wild Bunch to cap off the list, but was quick to explain that it wasn’t technically a “perfect” film but it was “so unassailable,” he had to add it to his top choices.
