An Iridescent Red Stripe Hits the Nike Air Max 97

It has been a busy year for the Nike Air Max 97. In celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Japanese bullet train-inspired silhouette has taken on a wide variety of looks, including the return of the fan-favorite “Silver Bullet” and “Gold Bullet” colorways set to launch in the coming months.

For the latest take on the classic shoe, a mostly black presentation of the Air Max 97 is accented by silver and an iridescent red. Ranging from mesh to leather, the layered upper keeps its simple with a single stripe carrying its shiny red, providing a pop of color to the otherwise monochromatic look. The stripe’s finish is similar to that of Skepta’s Air Max 97 “Sk” from 2017, a fun callback to the Air Max 97’s history. Silver Swooshes and a matching heel tab are accompanied by a matching visible Air unit while black dominates the remainder of the sneaker.

The Swoosh has yet to share any release information regarding this Air Max 97 colorway. Look for it to hit shelves in the coming months via Nike and select retailers.

In other footwear news, the Nike Air More Uptempo has been outfitted in a “Valentine’s Day”-themed look.
