Twin sister design duo Laura and Deanna Fanning are the masterminds behind Kiko Kostadinov‘s womenswear, and increasingly becoming influential figures in Kostadinov’s footwear and accessories world. The house’s Trivia bag has become a bit of a viral sensation, with everyone from fashion editors to Iris Law and Bella Hadid carrying one as of late, while teasers online have seen the duo step into the world of collaboration heavier than ever with the Kiko Kostadinov x HYSTERIC GLAMOUR x ASICS preview. These moments seem to inform the overarching taste level of Kiko Kostadinov’s output — you can rest assured menswear will follow the Fanning sisters’ path. Now, as part of Paris Fashion Week, the duo has presented their collection for Spring/Summer 2023.

Despite being a womenswear-centric collection, it’s clear to see the crossovers that will likely occur in menswear to keep that sense of brand unity and harmony. Take the unconventional cowboy boots (a key trend this season, per the likes of Molly Goddard); white or black leather makes up the bootie, but as for the shaft, the Fannings opt for sheer mesh-like material before embroidering it in stars, moons and more.

Likewise, a pair of ballet flat-like sneakers lace up to the knee and have a very ASICS-like quality to the toe and sole unit, but that cannot yet be fully deciphered. Regardless, it’s a shape that is also trending on the runway, which should infiltrate other sides of fashion later on.

What’s most notable about this collection is how an androgynous thread is woven into the pieces, making it hard to see this too different from what Kiko Kostadinov could produce for his menswear. Take the topstitched black work pants, that beautifully studded black vest, and the off-the-shoulder moment served by the green and brown checkered jumper — each working in their own right as excellent pieces of genderless fashion.

The pink glittery scarf — that turns out to be a jumper — is a great styling exercise for many to take note of, while a slew of new handbags promises Kiko Kostadinov’s soon-to-be handbag supremacy is going nowhere.
