Keanu Reeves has reportedly exited the upcoming Martin Scorsese series adaptation of The Devil In The White City.

According to Variety, The Matrix star has been tied to the Hulu series since January of this year. The series is an adaptation of Erik Larson’s 2003 book of the same name and was set to be Reeves’ first major American TV role.

The film has garnered major attention in the industry, dating back to 2010 when Leonardo DiCaprio bought the film rights to the book. DiCaprio will serve as the series’ executive producer alongside Scorsese. However, it appears that Reeves will no longer be a part of the series. Hulu and the actor have declined to comment about Reeves departure and the studio has not yet found a replacement for the lead role of Daniel H. Burman. The official synopsis of the series reads,

The Devil In The White City tells the true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were forever linked by The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893.

It follows Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and fastidious architect racing to make his mark on the world and Henry H. Holmes, a handsome and cunning doctor who fashioned his own pharmaceutical Murder Castle on fairgrounds – a palace built to seduce, torture and mutilate young women.

The story takes the viewer on a tour of murder, romance and mystery in the gilded age.”

No further information has been revealed regarding the series.

In other Keanu Reeves news, the actor revealed what his dream Marvel superhero role would be.
