Marvel Studios has dropped off the first official trailer for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, written and directed by Guardians filmmaker James Gunn.

The special, which concludes Phase 4 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and Sean Gunn.

In the visual, Pratt’s Star-Lord is having a difficult time embracing the holiday cheer as he mourns the loss of his love Gamora (Saldaña), following the happenings of Avengers: Endgame. In an attempt to brighten his spirit, the Guardians take off to Earth to retrieve a “really wonderful Christmas gift”: his favorite actor, Kevin Bacon. Drak (Bautista) and Mantis (Klementieff) break into the actor’s Hollywood home, which is armed with a smart security system, and Bacon attempts to escape before the trailer cuts to its title sequence.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, first shared news of the holiday special in December 2020. The project follows Werewolf by Night as Marvel’s latest Disney+ delivery that does not fall into the feature-length film or streaming series categories.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will premiere on November 25 on Disney+. Watch the new trailer above.

In more entertainment news, House of the Dragon has become HBO’s most-watched season finale since Game of Thrones.
