Sir Michael Caine is auctioning off a collection of memorabilia and person items collected during his six decade long acting career, including his full gold Rolex Oysterquartz.

The items will go under the hammer in March at Bonhams London as Sir Michael and Lady Caine downsize.

Bonhams have also confirmed with the star of Alfie, Get Carter, The Italian Job and Zulu that the 18K yellow gold Rolex Oysterquartz Day Date Ref 19018 circa 1980 (estimate £8,000 – £12,000 GBP, approximately $10,800 – $16,300 USD) is the same watch that he wore on screen in 1988’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

The Oysterquartz is one of only a handful of quartz variations ever produced by Rolex.

“It’s going to be quite a wrench to part with so many treasured parts of my life and career,” says Sir Michael Caine. “But it’s the right time to be moving on. I hope these mementoes will give their new owners as much pleasure as they have given us.”

Sir Michael Caine: The Personal Collection includes Les amoureux dans l’ arbre by Marc Chagall (approximately estimate $40,700 – $67,900 USD), Peel Park by L.S. Lowry (approximately estimate $16,300 – $24,400 USD), a diamond-set initialed ‘Rollagas’ lighter (approximately estimate $1,360 – $2,000 USD), some pairs of his iconic glasses and a number of signed posters from films including Zulu, Get Carter and Alfie.

A portrait of Sir Michael Caine by Lincoln Townley ($13,600 – $20,000 USD) is also being sold with proceeds going to the NSPCC children’s charity, which the couple have supported for years.

“Sir Michael Caine is a cinema legend internationally and a national treasure here in the UK,” says Charlie Thomas, Bonhams Director of House Sales and Iconic Collections. “I know the Sir Michael Caine Collection Sale will excite great interest among collectors and film fans alike.”

Sir Michael Caine: The Personal Collection goes under the hammer in London on March 2.
