Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation is joining the effort to aid in climate disasters by committing $15 million USD to 18 organizations across the U.S. and the Caribbean.

The initiative centers on climate justice organizations that are led by women, Black, youth, Indigenous, people of color and LGBTQIA+ communities. Including a wide array of specializations from elevating youth voices to championing Black feminist philanthropy, the array of organizations includes Caribbean Youth Environment Network, Black Feminist Fund, Climate and Clean Energy Equity Fund, Climate Justice Alliance, Integrated Health Outreach, The Solutions Project and more.

“At the Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF), our work is rooted in the reality that climate disasters, which are growing in frequency and intensity, do not impact all communities equally,” reads a release from CLF. “Under-resourced countries, communities of color, and island nations are facing the brunt. To combat this inequity, funders must build partnerships with organizations, acknowledging their deep understanding of what is necessary to achieve climate justice in their own communities.”

Additionally, Rihanna’s foundation has partnered with Jack Dorsey’s philanthropic initiative #StartSmall to further the mission.
