Michael Jordan's "Broken Foot Game" Air Jordan 1 Sold for $422,130 USD
Worn by the six-time NBA champion as he faced his first major injury.
Lelands Auctions recently sold Michael Jordan’s game-worn Air Jordan 1 dubbed as the “Broken Foot Game” pair for $422,130 USD. Considered to be the six-time NBA champion’s last original AJ1s he’s ever worn, the basketball shoes don a classic Chicago Bulls’ colorway and are tied to one of the most crucial moments in his professional career.
Back on October 29, 1985, MJ faced his first major injury during a winning game against the Golden State Warriors as he scored 12 points within 18 minutes before the incident occurred. The star guard was playing at the start of his second season when he fractured a bone in his left foot which prevented him from playing for six months. During his recovery, the Bulls who initially held a 3-0 record, soon fell to 24-43.
The pair was previously kept by the Jordan family and just recently was gifted to the company’s consignor’s father. Bearing a white base and red overlays, the shoes sport the classic Swoosh in black with the left shoe in size 13 and the right in 13.5. Sealed with the code “850102-TYPS,” the AJ1s are found to be produced within January and February of 1985 and appear to be well worn throughout with scuffs and peeling around the ankle collar, frailed threading, an aged midsole and color bleeding.
Initially estimated around $400,000 USD to $500,000 USD, the pair was auctioned off for a final amount of $422,130 USD.
