Adidas Set to Open Largest Retail Space Yet in Harajuku, Tokyo
The eco-friendly concept store officially opens on January 22, 2022.

adidas opens its largest retail space yet, “adidas Brand Center Harajuku,” on Saturday, January 22, in Harajuku, Tokyo.
The massive flagship store spans 1,000 square meters featuring three floors, including an outdoor lounge area and “Digital Footwear Wall” that houses 45 customizable sneaker models courtesy of YAR, a creative agency led by visual artist YOSHIROTTEN. adidas partnered with local designers Takahiro Hida and Tadahisa OHKURI, developing sculptural art pieces throughout the store that incorporate branded upcycled adidas shoe strings and botanical-inspired formations.
adidas sustainable concept store is designed with a green thumb in mind, offering versatile upcycling initiatives like its “Sneaker Service,” a walk-in consultation service that helps restore well-loved kicks, along with its “Water Fountain & Water Bottle Service” in partnership with Parley, encouraging visitors to repurpose their plastic waste. The store will feature all-inclusive LED lighting and plans to incorporate energy simulation, helping recycle its construction waste.
In commemoration of the store unveiling, adidas will treat its “adiCLUB” members to an exclusive pre-opening on January 21, including a gift with purchase for items over ¥16,500 yen (approximately $145 USD). FUTURECRAFTFOOTPRINT plans to revive its 2021 collaboration with adidas X Allbirds, releasing 100 pairs of its Lightstrike sneaker sold exclusively in-store. The midsole is reconstructed of SweetFoam®, comprised of sugar cane and a newly developed upper of 23% Tencel and 77% recycled polyester and wood pulp.
