Jordan Brand‘s Air Jordan 11 Low IE is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and in honor of the momentous occasion the Jumpman is bringing back its original “Bred” colorway. Not seen since the IE Low’s initial release in 1996, the “Bred” returns with a true-to-the-OG color scheme and tooling that’s sure to delight Air Jordan purists.

The IE’s signature detail is the cut-out overlays and mesh netting seen on its upper, both of which are dressed in black on the “Bred.” They sit atop a black leather base, and are contrasted by hot crimson collars and tongue branding for a vivid pop of flair. Down below, a straightforward white Air Jordan 11 midsole and tinted, semi-translucent outsole round off the look.

Though its midsole and outsole may be the same, the Air Jordan 11 Low IE’s overall build is much more stripped back and breathable than the Air Jordan 11 or Air Jordan 11 Low. This was explained by Tinker Hatfield himself in a 2015 Nike News article.

“I felt like [patent leather] was contrary to the summer feel,” said Hatfield while discussing how the shoe was designed for the summer months. “[It] didn’t need to feel so stiff and heavy. For the summer, I wanted something that was lighter and easier to wear.” Another bit of Air Jordan 11 Low IE history is that, according to longtime Jordan Brand employee Gentry Humphrey, “IE” stands for “International Edition.”

Interested parties will be able to purchase the Air Jordan 11 Low IE at retailers like Sneaker Politics on September 17. Its MSRP is set at $175 USD.
