London-based eyewear label Sub Sun has launched its first collection, taking inspiration from the city’s underground music culture. The first release focuses on the label’s three in-house unisex styles — the SUB001, SUB002 and SUB003 — while the label is also launching a collaboration with Peckham-based club night and record label Rhythm Section.

Each of the three in-house frames are produced from Mazzucchelli acetate, and are barrel spun for 30 days before they are hand-fitted with CR39 UV400 scratch resistant lenses. The sunglasses also arrive in 16 different colorways, offering different combinations between frame and lense options. Continuing the music theme, the cloths and cases for the collection are inspired by record covers collected by the Sun Sun founders.

For the Rhythm Section collaboration, Sub Sun has introduced an all-new shape. Dubbed the SUB-RS, the new frame is inspired by Rhythm Section founder and DJ Bradley Zero‘s favored sunglasses: “vintage frames with small, circular lenses that fold down flat so that you’ll forget they’re in your pocket.”

Speaking about the collaboration, Bradley Zero continued, “What we came out with is the SUB-RS: a perfect frame to have on hand whatever the situation; be it a sunny dancefloor moment, a brighter than expected bike ride home, or some cover for a quiet night that turned into a journey home in the morning light.”

Take a look at Sub Sun’s in-house sunglasses and its Rhythm Section collaboration in the gallery above. All of the frames are available now from the Sub Sun web store, with some styles also available via Goodhood.
