Offspring Celebrates London With adidas Originals ZX 9000 Collaboration
The first sneaker to come from “London to LA Part 2.”
Offspring is one of the U.K.’s leading sneaker stores and is known for its extensive roster of community-led collaborations, and now following on from a 2020 partnership with adidas is the Offspring x adidas Originals ZX 9000 “London to LA Part 2.”
In 2020, Offspring released a “London to LA” pack comprising a ZX 10000 and ZX 8000, and now the pair is back together once again to introduce the first of a two-piece collaboration: the ZX 9000 “London.” As per all of Offspring’s collaborations, the devil is in the detail, and much more has been put into designing this sneaker than just fitting it out in a special colorway and some branding.
For example, the overall shoe design is inspired by London’s industrious architecture, meaning that components are not as polished as you may think. Instead, the tongue is inverted, the product label appears on the outside, the Three Stripes are outlined with exposed foam, and hairy suede has been used to give a textural, industrial feel — even if it looks luxurious at the same time.
Pops of turquoise have been added in reference to the OG ZX 9000, while the River Thames’ outline has been plastered onto the heel alongside a set of coordinates reading “51.5074° N; 0.1278° W,” or essentially the central point of London. Insoles are printed with a map that pinpoints Offspring’s London store locations, while red and blue touches (seen on the map, Three Stripes, and quite literally all around the shoe) reference the Union Jack flag.
Offspring will be exclusively releasing its collaborative adidas Originals ZX 9000 “London to LA Part 2” in its U.K. stores and online on July 24. Stay tuned to its Instagram account for more information.
