Should Apple Tap Reebok to Bring Back Its '90s Employee Shoe?

Sneaker customizer and Jordan employee Andrew Chiou (a.k.a. @andu.c) is known for his Sashiko Nike SB Dunks, aged Jordans, and a collaboration with the emerging sneaker brand Collegium, but now he has put his hand towards creating something of an homage — a pair of Apple x Reebok Club C 90s in the style of the tech company’s own sneakers.

Back in the early ’90s, Apple gifted its employees Apple Computers sneakers and they’ve since either become a unicorn in the sneaker world (rarely appearing in the secondary market for anything less than $15k USD), or the base for an homage. Salehe Bembury of Versace used these as inspiration for the labels own take on the shoes, while Concepts and Mephisto went as far as to create a shoe that was uncannily similar to the OG ones.

Now, Chiou creates his own take on the shoe using Reebok’s Club C as the base. The custom designer’s usual aged tactics have been applied to the entirety of the shoe, giving the would-be white leather a creamy-brown tint. This extends to touches such as the laces and the terry lining, while various mentions of Apple in the embroidered tag style of its ’70s and ’80s branding appears, making them look like the originals.
