Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter to Voice Gay Dads in 'The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder'
Playing Barry and Randall Leibowitz, parents to Maya Leibowitz.
In August 2019 it was announced that the streaming service Disney+ would be bringing back the American animated sitcom The Proud Family, and in February 2020 we got a closer glimpse at what’s to come from The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. Now, Disney+ has confirmed that two gay dads — Barry and Randall Leibowitz, who take on the role as Maya Leibowitz’s adoptive parents — will be played by Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter.
Maya Leibowitz is to be voiced by Keke Palmer and is said to be a “14-year-old activist,” while the rest of the confirmed cast includes Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer, Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez, and Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby.
While Quinto and Porter have had vast and wildly successful careers, it’s their more recent roles that have thrown them into stardom, demand, and a Gen-Z limelight that’s sure to pick up on the new series of The Proud Family. For Quinto, his roles in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story made him a millennial sensation, while actor, singer, writer, and director Billy Porter has had huge success in Pose as the emcee Pray Tell and for playing Lola in Kinky Boots.
