It’s starting to feel like things could be going back to “normal” again, because as we edge closer to summer more and more U.K. music festivals are being announced. Following the likes of Parklife’s big return and the lackluster line-up at Wireless Festival comes a new name on the schedule, slowthai‘s inaugural Happyland festival.
Dubbed “The Happiest Place in the Universe” with a simple “No Smile, No Entry” policy, slowthai says that Happyland is “The place where we can laugh and joke. The place you can be yourself without judgment, expectations and impressions of someone else. The space from the shackles of the everyday. The mountain where we climb to run away. Imagine what you’ve never had when you come to Happyland – you will never be sad.”
Taking place just around the corner from his mom’s house at the Cricket Ground in Northampton, Happyland presents a hand-curated selection of artists chosen by slowthai himself including the likes of Greentea Peng, Shygirl, and beabadoobee, as well as IDELS, Pa Salieu, easy life, Izzie Gibbs, and Ethan P Flynn, while slowthai is set to headline the event at the end of the day. The diverse line-up showcases the talent that comes out of the U.K.’s music scene, and each of the artists singlehandedly pave the way for new sounds in their fields.
Happyland will take place on September 25, 2021, and the tickets are set to go on sale from May 14 at 10 a.m. BST (5 a.m. ET) online.
