As lore has it, May is a month of love and success — so it seems only fitting that the world’s biggest footwear brands would be kicking it off in style. During this first week of May, we’re set to see high-heat styles from brands like Nike, adidas, Jordan Brand, New Balance and Dr. Martens, but before we dive into the best drops from the next seven days let’s take a look at what went down last week.

Travis Scott’s 29th birthday was May 30, so HYPEBEAST ranked his Nike and Jordan Brand collaborations from worst to best. The latest installment of Sole Mates saw HUF brand director and Innovative Leisure co-owner Hanni El Khatib discuss his affection for Nike’s Air Zoom Flight 95.

Per usual, there was plenty of news on the Jordan Brand front. We got two blasts from the past: one when NBA legend Rip Hamilton starred in the aforementioned Travis Scott’s Air Jordan 6 “British Khaki” campaign, and another when Bill Murray’s Air Jordan 2s from Space Jam were put up for auction. Release dates were announced for the Air Jordan 1 KO “Chicago” and the Air Jordan 4 “White Oreo,” and official images of the Air Jordan 1 “Shadow 2.0” popped up.

There was something for everyone in the world of Nike too. Nike Basketball was busier than usual with news around the revival of two classic LeBrons — namely the LeBron 8 “South Beach” and LeBron 8 V2 Low “Miami Nights” — plus the official announcement of the Concepts x Nike Kyrie 7 collection. Moving from hoops to sportswear, the Supreme x Nike Air Max 96 collection was revealed in full, the UNDERCOVER x sacai x Nike LDWaffle “Bright Citron” caused a stir and a Puerto Rico-themed Air Max 97 surfaced. Of course it wouldn’t be a proper week without some Dunk news, so we also got a look at the Dunk Low “Sunset Pulse” and the Dunk Low “NY vs. NY.”

The adidas YEEZY line had its moments in the spotlight as well, with on-foot shots of the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Mono Cinder” plus a look at the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Light,” a brief glance at the YEEZY FOAM RNNR “Ochre” and the announcement of two restocks: the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Tail Light” and YEEZY DSRT BT “Oil” and “Rock.”

Lastly, Crocs shares hit an all-time high and Palace revealed its inagural Crocs collaboration. Noted prankster Imran Potato teased giant foam slip-ons that look like human feet, and Rick Owens teamed up with Dr. Martens to craft a second collaborative capsule.

Caught up? Let’s get into this week’s 10 best releases. When you’re done sifting through the top drops, you can also head over to HBX to check out even more new footwear styles.

Air Jordan 1 “Rust Shadow”

Release Date: May 4
Release Price: $170 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS and Foot Locker
Why You Should Cop: A bronzed Jordan Brand sneaker that’s half weathered sculpture and half “Shadow,” the Air Jordan 1 “Rust Shadow” is an aged work of art in footwear form. It’s quite unlike any other sneaker in the Jumpman’s Summer 2021 retro lineup as well, making it one of this week’s standouts.

OAMC x adidas Type O-6 and Type O-8

Release Date: May 5
Release Price: Type O-6: £230 GBP (approximately $320 USD)/Type O-8: £170 GBP (approximately $235 USD)
Where to Buy: adidas UK
Why You Should Cop: OAMC is no stranger to elevating adidas classics, and on its latest two-pack of collaborative releases it’s doing just that. The Type O-6 is essentially a high-end take on a sneaker from the ZX line, and the Type O-8 is a Samba with a beefed-up midsole. Both styles are done up in either sail or black, and feature a keen attention to detail and quality.

Supreme x Nike Air Max 96 Collection

Release Date: May 6 (US/EU) and May 8 (Japan)
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: Supreme
Why You Should Cop: After weeks of rumors, leaks and teasers, Supreme’s striking new Nike Air Max 96 collection is finally set to release. By dressing the ’90s runner in three different colorways — camo, silver and black — and crafting its upper partially of translucent PVC, Supreme has added an element of streetwise flair to the heritage runner, and even offered up special Nike socks to accent its see-through stylings.

Air Jordan 11 Low “Citrus”

Release Date: May 6
Release Price: $185 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS and Foot Locker
Why You Should Cop: One of the most beloved women’s Air Jordan 11 colorways of all time, the Air Jordan 11 Low “Citrus” was last seen in 2015. Now, it’s back for the first time in over half a decade and follows the same formula as a pair you’ll see later on in this list: a richly-colored sole mixed with crisp white uppers.

Slam Jam x New Balance 991

Release Date: May 7
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: Slam Jam
Why You Should Cop: A continuation of Slam Jam and New Balance’s (Un)Corporate Uniforms project, the two’s new made in the UK 991 may appear simple at first glance — but it’s richly detailed, both in build and story. Composed of both tough ripstop and supple pigskin suede, the do-anything shoe presents a stark look that aims to be an ultimate “uniform” piece, i.e. something the wearer can rock with pride each and every day. In short it’s a staple — and a high-quality one at that.

Rick Owens x Dr. Martens 1460 Bex, 1461 Bex and Gryphon Sandal

Release Date: May 8
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: Dr.Martens
Why You Should Cop: Rick Owens and Dr. Martens already have a well-recieved collaboration under their belt this year, and they’re following it up with fresh takes on the 1460 Bex, 1461 Bex and Gryphon Sandal. Combining Docs’ signature punk flair with the Dark Lord’s sui generis stylings, all three are sure to be gobbled up quickly by both brands’ avid fans.

New Balance Tokyo Design Studio 574

Release Date: May 7
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: HBX
Why You Should Cop: New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio is defying convention and categorization on its new 574. A style that sits halfway between classic runner and elevated dress shoe, this modified 574 combines an elegant, businesslike upper with a thick, toothy midsole for a dash of sport and a sprinkle of elegance.

Stingwater x Nike SB Dunk Low “Magic Mushroom”

Release Date:May 8 (Skateshops)/May 10 (Nike SNKRS)
Release Price: $125 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS and The Berrics Canteen
Why You Should Cop: This week’s drops list is finishing on a far-out note thanks to the Stingwater x Nike SB Dunk Low “Magic Mushroom.” If its trippy inspiration wasn’t made obvious enough by its moniker, the “Magic Mushroom” also features a rich red and white color scheme, safari print detailing, falling font around its midfoot jewel swoosh, a strange “Plant Emoji With Eyes” graphic split across its outsoles and even a hidden stash pocket under the tongue. Be careful with this one: it’s potent.

adidas YEEZY 500 “Enflame”

Release Date: May 8
Release Price: $200 USD
Where to Buy: adidas and YEEZY Supply
Why You Should Cop: Centered around a creamsicle-like orange shade that the YEEZY line is seemingly preparing to use with abandon this summer, the adidas YEEZY 500 “Enflame” makes a strong case for the most colorful YEEZY 500 makeup yet. Apart from this orange shade, it also features earthy tones and bright blue hues — a combination that ensures it’ll be one of the week’s biggest releases.

Air Jordan 7 “Flint”

Release Date: May 8
Release Price: $190 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS and Foot Locker
Why You Should Cop: The Air Jordan 7 “Flint” is a beloved style that first released in 2006 and it’s coming back in all its original glory. Mixing luxurious tumbled white leather with sharp “Flint” suede and sporty purple accents, the “Flint” shows that it’s one of the most popular non-OG Air Jordan 7 colorways for a reason.
