Yohji Yamamoto‘s adidas Originals sub-label Y-3 follows on from its recently-released Spring/Summer 2021 collection with the unveiling of a new take on a classic sneaker, introducing its Forum Hi OG.

In typical form, Y-3 applies signature house cues and a monochromatic, minimalistic approach to the Forum Hi OG to turn it into a piece of avant-garde design. As such, you’ll find a full leather upper met with a complementing suede lining and a rubber outsole, with Y-3 branding appearing debossed into the tongue and on the hook-and-loop strap, which elevates the Forum Hi OG’s original strap function.

Fusing its vision with the classic design once more is the inclusion of a new wraparound zipper. Starting from the tongue and just beneath the collar, this zip runs all the way around the high-top sneaker and finishes just before the lateral-side front-quarter. The zip allows for better access when putting the shoe on, which is increased by the collar’s choice of material as it appears in mesh rather than the premium leather that’s found elsewhere.

Rounding out Y-3’s pair is the inclusion of zig-zag stitching on the mid-panels and towards the heel, as well as the perforated toe box which has been taken from the original design.

The Y-3 Forum Hi OG seen above can be purchased from the Confirmed app in North America and Europe, on adidas’ website, in store and through a selection of retailers globally on April 7, costing £250 GBP a pair (approx. $345 USD).

In other news, Bad Bunny and adidas Originals have given their collaborative Forum Low an apt “Easter Egg” rework.
