Vic Mensa has shared a bespoke acoustic version of “Shelter” featuring original collaborator Chance The Rapper, who is also making his directorial debut with the track’s music video.

The original track appeared on Mensa’s latest I TAPE, while the visual utilizes Chano’s vision of warm hues and grayscale that reflect the song’s intimate keyboard and string-based arrangement. “By stripping the song to its most bare form we were really able to bring out a new depth of beauty and meaning, in a time when we as a people are searching for it,” Mensa said about the song, which addresses issues of racial injustice, overcriminalization, and underserved communities in America. He added, “Chance’s directorial focus on simplicity shows strength in showing the world just as it is.“
