Gucci Remains World's Hottest Brand for Q1 2021
Dior is entered for the first time, while Off-White™ has been knocked down to 10th place.
According to the Lyst Index Q1 2021, Gucci is still the world’s hottest brand. For Q4 2020, the Alessandro Michele-helmed label took the top spot for the second consecutive year, pushing the likes of Nike, Off-White™, and Balenciaga down in the rankings. For Q1 2021, nothing has changed here — Gucci remains at the top spot, but it’s what comes beneath the luxury Italian fashion brand that’s most interesting this year.
Nike comes in second place, and for the first time ever Dior has been included in the Lyst Index and comes straight in at third — it was previously excluded because of its distribution model, but a rising demand in pre-owned and vintage Dior, combined with external data that drives Lyst’s report, means it can now be considered.
Fourth goes to Balenciaga following its partnership with Gucci and a strong year in making a stand against the use of fur, all while simultaneously knocking Off-White™ down the list. Fifth places goes to Moncler, sixth to Prada, seventh to Louis Vuitton, eighth to Bottega Veneta, ninth to Saint Laurent, and for the first time in a long while, Off-White™ moves down six places to tenth, despite it announcing seven new collaborative Nike sneakers and launching its “I Support Black Women” campaign.
From 11th to 20th place comes as follows: Versace, Burberry, Fendi, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, LOEWE, Givenchy (remaining in the same spot despite Matthew M Williams‘ collection debuting) Jacquemus, Balmain, and Stone Island.
It is no surprise that Gucci still leads the pack for Q1 2021, following the aforementioned partnership with Balenciaga, its North Face collaboration that still brings in traction for the brand (the GG Canvas bomber jacket is currently the world’s hottest item for women, fetching almost five times the retail price on the resell market), and having dressed the likes of Billie Eilish and Harry Styles for the Grammy Awards. The Gucci family is also taking center stage in the Lady Gaga and Adam Driver-staring film House of Gucci, which only adds to the buzz around the brand.
