YMC Celebrates the Spirit of Football With Meyba Collaboration
The British brand begins its 25th anniversary celebrations.
British label YMC has kicked off its 25th anniversary celebrations with a new partnership alongside Meyba. The collaboration — designed by Meyba creative director Neal Heard — builds on Meyba’s heritage designing football shirts, and particularly its decade-long relationship with Barcelona that began in 1981 and saw a golden era for the club.
The YMC x Melba capsule features two special-edition jerseys, inspired by this period and celebrating the true spirit of football, described as “camaraderie, style and passion.” The first jersey pays tribute to Johan Cruyff, with Barcelona’s signature blue and garnet stripes featuring alongside his number 9 on the back. For the second jersey, Meyba and YMC have taken a different approach, designing a pink tie-dye shirt complete with YMC sponsor logo and club crest. The number 96 on the back marks the year the brand was launched.
Launching the collaboration, YMC creative director Fraser Moss said, “How could I turn down the opportunity to collaborate with Neal Heard and the legendary Meyba? Not only a close friend, Neal also shares my love Newport County football club. Hardly Barcelona, I know, but the club is in my blood. My great- grandfather, Bert Moss, founded the Welsh side back in 1912, for which I will forever feel proud and grateful.”
