Hedi Slimane‘s Spring/Summer 2021 collection “The Dancing Kid — A Teen Romance” for CELINE HOMME shook the fashion world when it was first shown on the racetrack last July, and now its Tyson Reeder artist capsule is finally here.
As spotlighted in the show, Reeder took signature Slimane designs and gave them an authentic artistic twist, combining the designer’s references of e-boys, skaters, and his usual rocker aesthetic with bright colors, bold prints and more. Centered around Reeder’s work “Autobahn,” the capsule presents shorts, sneakers, hoodies, jackets, T-shirts, bucket hats, and tennis shoes, which give the luxurious pieces an elevated tropical rework.
Speaking on the collection and his work, Reeder said, “I love using painting as a kind of amplifier or distortion pedal… Where a handful of dead-end subjects — trees, cars, buildings — are allowed to sing a new song of wilfully arbitrary color and pattern.” With this in mind, palm trees fill the canvas that are the garments, while chopper bikes and a winding road blend into the background as minute details.
Standouts in the capsule include the Teddy jacket — a Slimane signature carried between various brands he’s designed for — as it features a main body in satin sporting the “Autobahn” work alongside raglan sleeves and contrasting details on the cuffs, collar, and hemline.
