SNIPES Is Selling Its Detroit Pistons x adidas Originals Forum Hi Out of a Truck This Weekend
The three-way collaboration celebrates Detroit’s 313 Day and will be available this weekend only.
Michiganders, it’s 313 Day, and in celebration of this adidas Originals has teamed up with SNIPES and the Detroit Pistons on a highly-exclusive version of its Forum Hi.
For those who don’t know what 313 Day is, it’s a day in which Detroit celebrates its famous area code of 313, on March 13 — styled in the Americanized format of 3/13. So to celebrate, SNIPES has teamed up with Detroit’s leading basketball team to host a weekend-long traveling event in a co-branded mobile truck that will drop by the six Metro Detroit SNIPES stores, schools and community centers, selling the collaborative sneakers and giving away limited-edition apparel.
The sneakers themselves are a reworked Forum Hi and are inspired by the Championships of the Pistons in 1989-1990 and 1990-1991. As a result, the premium leather uppers are detailed with every archetypical adidas Originals design element you’d expect, such as Three Stripes on the mid-panel and a heavy presence of Trefoil logos, while apt details such as a “D” for Detroit has been embroidered into the heel using a collegiate font.
Elsewhere, the collaborative sneaker features the season embroidered onto the toe box overlay, reading ‘89 and ‘90 on the black pair and ‘90 and ‘91 on the white pair that you see above. The number of pairs per color has also been embroidered into the tongue and can be found under the adidas-branded tongue strap, while the second pair of laces round out the sneaker’s looks.
SNIPES will be driving around Detroit this weekend, which will be your only chance to secure the very limited adidas Originals Forum Hi in both black and white. The sneaker will be sold out the back of the truck for $110 USD.
