Hubcap of GMC Suburban Car Biggie Smalls Was Shot In Heads to Auction for $150K USD
The piece still bears a sticker promoting the rapper’s final album, ‘Life After Death.’
The hubcap of the vehicle Biggie Smalls was shot in is heading to auction.
According to reports, the decorative disk comes from the GMC Suburban the late rapper was riding in when he left the Petersen Automotive Museum in the early hours of March 9, 1997. The hubcap was previously owned by a family friend of the rental company that the SUV was from, and still bears the Notorious B.I.G. sticker — albeit torn — that reads “THINK B.I.G. MARCH 25 1997,” which marked the release date of his final studio album, Life After Death.
Biggie was riding one of his two GMC Suburbans as he left the Vibe party that was shut down due to overcrowding. His vehicle was stopped at a red light just 50 yards from the museum when a black Chevy Impala pulled up to the side and its unidentified driver fired gunshots at the rapper’s car. B.I.G. was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center but was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m.
