'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba' Film Has Received U.S. Theatrical and Digital Release Dates
The film was a block-buster in Japan, where it overtook ‘Spirited Away’ to become the high-grossing film ever.
Demon Slayer – Kimetsu No Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train will finally receive a North American release, arriving to U.S. and Canadian theaters on April 23. Demon Slayer will open for digital purchase and rental on June 22 via Apple TV, Microsoft Store, Vudu, Google Play, PlayStation Store and Amazon, with pre-orders starting April 26.
Demon Slayer has enjoyed an incredibly successful run since it released in Japan in October 2020, where it racked up $100 million USD at the Japanese box office in a record-setting 10 days. In December, Demon Slayer also overtook Spirited Away to become the high-grossing film ever in Japan and is currently estimated to have grossed $368 million USD to date in its run there. The film has also released in Korea where its made over $10 million USD since opening in late January. February releases in Australia and New Zealand have also seen Demon Slayer it open at No. 1.
The film is set following the events of the anime television series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba, and follows Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu and Inosuke as they team up with Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku to uncover the disappearance of over 40 people aboard the Mugen Train.
Season One of the series is currently available on Netflix with a trailer for the upcoming Season Two dropped in February.
