Post Malone Drops a Cover of "Only Wanna Be With You," Celebrating 25 Years of Pokémon
The track was released today, ahead of the artist’s “Pokemon Day” concert on February 27.
Post Malone’s latest single is a cover of Hootie and the Blowfish’s “Only Wanna Be With You”, interjected with plenty of Pokémon-esque synthesizer effects, in honor of Pokémon’s 25th anniversary.
The “Pokemon 25” version of the song, released today, continues to tease out Malone’s on-going partnership with the brand, which will also include a virtual “Pokemon Day” concert headlined by the artist on February 27 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. “Only Wanna Be With You” will be included in the “Pokemon Day” setlist, which will also kick off Pokemon’s partnership with Universal Music Group.
Listen to the track on Apple Music and Spotify, and catch the official concert trailer on YouTube.
Alongside Pokémon (which has initiated anniversary activations with Levi’s, Netflix, McDonald’s and more), Post Malone has also enjoyed an especially stacked few months of diverse projects. His Maison No. 9 French Rosé saw a U.K. release in December, shortly after the artist’s fifth Crocs collaboration hit the shelves. And more recently, Malone joined on a remix of Ty Dolla Sign’s “Spicy” and tackled a global Bud Light shortage in a Super Bowl LV commercial.
