Opening Ceremony and Vans already have a rich history of working together for various projects, but the for the first time ever the two parties are reconvening for a new footwear, apparel and accessories collection that will be rolled out globally. The collection shines a light on the Authentic QTL silhouette which goes hand-in-hand with a lightweight tracksuit and tote bag.
On the footwear side of things, OC founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim fashion four new takes of the aforementioned model, two of which zone in on all-over graphics, while the other duo leans towards elevated textures and tonal motifs. In an effort to reimagine Vans’ classical checkerboard print, Opening Ceremony summons abstract snake and black leopard patterns to cover the shoes from head-to-toe, each of which are expressed in either red/white or black/white schemes. The other two members of this sneaker lineup come prepped with quilted textile toe boxes, and zen garden-like padding patterns towards the rear, and arrive monochromatically finished in either “Orchid” or “Baja Blue”. Each iteration is decorated with an Opening Ceremony patch tacked onto its heels.
Elsewhere in the collection, the matching track jacket, pants and tote bag rip the very same animal patterns and slap them on in an all-over manner as well.
A beautiful look book shot by Malaysian-Chinese photographer Zhong Lin showcases the pieces here above, and you can expect the full range to launch worldwide via Vans and select retail partners come February 19.
