Hennessy Taps Artist Liu Wei for Lunar New Year Edition Bottles
V.S.O.P and X.O options featuring Wei’s abstract work.
To celebrate Lunar New Year 2021, Hennessy partnered with renowned Beijing-born artist Liu Wei on a selection of limited edition bottles. Centering upon the V.S.O.P and X.O options, Wei incorporates his dynamic abstract work on the exterior of the bottles alongside their bespoke casing.
The colorful, kaleidoscopic compositions for the partnership were inspired by an original painting entitled SPRING that symbolize the infinite choice of possibilities of growth. The work evokes color, movement and a sense of transformation.
“The Year of the Ox is traditionally associated with openness, hope, and confidence. In that spirit, Hennessy has partnered with world-renowned Chinese artist Liu Wei for this year’s Lunar New Year limited release of Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège and X.O to commemorate the occasion,” said the label in a statement.
Wei works across a range of media and techniques encompassing photography, painting, sculpture and installation. The artist champions a ready-made approach, often developing his pieces using everyday found objects such as ceramics, books, television sets, fridges and fans. Wei transforms these discarded materials into abstract sculptural pieces and installations featuring many intricate layers.
Both limited edition bottles are available at select retailers nationwide starting at $59 USD. Get a closer look at the Lunar New Year V.S.O.P and X.O editions above and then visit Hennessy’s website to learn more about the partnership.
