International soccer star David Beckham officially announced that he is producing a mini-documentary series about the 40-year long decade between sports brands, Adidas and Puma.

The project titled World War Shoes is a three-part series that follows the sibling feud between Adi and Rudolf “Rudi” Dassler after they each developed their individual shoe brands in their hometown of Herzogenaurach, Germany. Rudi founded Puma in 1948, a year prior to Adi launched Adidas in 1949. World War Shoes dives deep into the legal battles and secret details that have caused the lifelong feud to play out across the world stage.

The documentary is expected to dissect the relationships between the two brothers and share how the brothers started out as competitors but later turned into each others’ greatest rivals. The series will also showcase the global influence both Puma and Adidas have had in the sports, footwear, fashion, pop culture and music industry over the years.

Beckham and long-time manager, David Gardner’s production company, Studio 99 has teamed up with Boat Rocker Studios, Matador Content and Unscripted to bring the docuseries to screen. Matador Content is the company behind critically acclaimed docs such as Apple TV+‘s Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry.

According to Deadline, Studio 99’s Nicola Howson said, “This is a dramatic and compelling tale. It’s not often you find an untold story which will resonate with so many people globally and we are delighted to be partnering with Boat Rocker and Matador to bring it to life.”

There is no official release date for World War Shoe at this current time.
