Daft Punk has officially split up.

The duo, comprised of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, announced the sad news via an eight-minute video entitled “Epilogue” which looks back at some of the most popular songs the two have released. Daft Punk’s longtime publicist Kathryn Frazier also confirmed the split, but declined to provide a reason behind the group’s farewell.

Bangalter and de Homem-Christo released a total of four studio albums under the Daft Punk name between 1997 and 2013, the last one being their GRAMMY-winning Album of the Year Random Access Memories. They have remained relatively quiet since then, working only with the likes of The Weeknd on “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming” and Australian group Parcels.

The pair met in high school in 1987 and originally started a rock trio called Darlin’ with Laurent Brancowitz of Phoenix in 1992. A negative review labelled their music as “a daft punky thrash” and Darlin’ disbanded soon after — Brancowitz went on to form Phoenix, and Bangalter and de Homem-Christo used the negative review to come up with the name Daft Punk and focused on drum machines and synthesizers.

Elsewhere in music, SZA’s “Good Days” has gone platinum after only two months.
