Damian Lillard Rumored To Want a 2-Year $107 Million USD Extension
Meaning the Blazers would be paying him $55 million USD at 36-years-old.
Damian Lillard, arguably the Portland Trail Blazers greatest powerhouses is reportedly looking for a two-year contract extension that would take the player into the 2026-27 season.
According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, negotiations are currently in the works with the six-time All-Star seeking a measurable contract extension that could lead to an NBA record deal of $55 million USD at 36-years-old. Wojnarowski writes, “Lillard wants a two-year, $107 million extension in July, and he and his agent need the next general manager to sell ownership on the idea…His desire for an extension into his advanced NBA years has turned into a battle for the franchise’s future, an existential threat to reshaping and redirecting the organization in a post-playoff reality.”
While many may think that the contract extension is a no-brainer for Portland, reports have indicated that many executives are not as enthusiastic about granting Lillard’s extension and would have him traded instead. The Trail Blazers currently do not have a GM, thus making this decision more difficult.
The Blazers nor Lillard have directly responded to these rumors.
