“It Was A… (Masked Christmas)” reminds listeners to have a safe holiday.
Jimmy Fallon, Megan Thee Stallion and Ariana Grande have dropped a new pandemic-inspired holiday track called “It Was A… (Masked Christmas).” The song lands alongside a video that premiered on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The track serves as a reminder for listeners to get their booster shots and follow COVID safety protocols during the holidays. “It was a masked Christmas, we stayed in the house / We covered our nose and covered our mouth,” Fallon and Grande sing on the chorus. “But it’s Christmas time / We’ll be in line for a booster.”

The track marks Fallon and Megan Thee Stallion’s second collaboration, following the duo’s 2019 Tonight Show sketch that welcomed “Hot Girl Fall.” Grande has also been a guest on the late-night show; most recently, she appeared via Zoom to share a video in which she performed the national anthem at a hockey game as an eight-year-old.
Last month, Megan Thee Stallion dropped her latest record, Something For Thee Hotties, which contains a collection of the rapper’s freestyles as well as several unreleased tracks from her archives. Meanwhile, Grande put out a new collaboration with Kid Cudi, dubbed “Just Look Up,” last week.
