This time last year Gucci and The North Face rocked the fashion world when they announced its brands were coming together for an unprecedented collaboration. While it wasn’t TNF’s first foray into high-fashion, the deal cemented an outerwear expansion for luxury giant Gucci. Now that they’re back again for “Chapter 2” of their partnership, more design thrills can be expected.

The new cross-category collection includes ready-to-wear, luggage, shoes and accessories designed for men and women, prominently displaying The North Face’s three curved lines and the famous green-red-green Gucci Web stripe on items. Standout pieces include blue and red two-tone jersey and fleece tracksuit sets, logo-laden bucket hats and baseball caps and a green “TNF x GG” print puffer with contrasting red hood. Handy accessories include small belt bags and a new cylindrical bag that’s perfect for holding a water bottle. Notable footwear includes the gender-neutral hiking boots with a chunky rubber-grip outsole, tan “GG” fabric print and bright orange leather foxing and eyelet trim.

Under the helm of creative director Alessandro Michele, the initial ‘70s inspired “TNF x Gucci” collaboration included goose-feathered bombers, vibrant jumpsuits and regenerated ECONYL fabric luggage, while this new collection features cutting-edge interpretations of self-discovery and self-expression via ultralight bonded baffle construction, unique thermoregulating yarn and transfer-printed nylon. Reimagined ‘90s attire comprises TNF’s “Nupste” jacket and vest that have been updated with Gucci’s aesthetic, retro-style nylon blousons and down jackets with playful mountain scenes, forest patterns and floral designs.

Campaign imagery was captured in Iceland by French twins Jalan and Jibril Durimel, with art direction from Christopher Simmonds introducing us to the unique landscape and mountainous greenery of the country.

Saleswise, vibrant pink packaging bearing “The North Face x Gucci” logo encases each item and product boxes include handles to eschew shopping bag usage. During mid-January 2022, dedicated in-store Gucci “Pop-Ups” will open in the US at the New York Fifth Avenue location, Aspen and Chicago, and in Toronto at Gucci’s Bloor Street site. These curated ventures will carry the new collection and will evoke a clean icespace while TNF’s New York, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo stores will carry dedicated product lines; limited items will be available on gucci.com.

The North Face also recently collaborated with Supreme to create a seasonal collection based around a bleached denim look. The full range is now available via GOAT as well.
