The slow-moving cut clocks in at about five minutes and hears Drizzy return to his roots of melancholic lyricism over relaxed beats. He touches on a woman he’s interested in pursuing, but she unfortunately is not interested in him due to his playboy lifestyle. “To love you right / I gotta give it up,” he sings at the end of chorus, hinting that he’s willing to give up his other women for her.
The debut of “Give It Up” arrives shortly after Certified Lover Boy logged its fifth week atop the Billboard 200, making it the longest-charting rap album of 2021. It matched the record of Scorpion but is still many weeks away from the record of Views, which logged 13 weeks at No. 1 in 2016.
Stay tuned for a release date for “Give It Up.”
