Following its limited-time smoked brisket menu item, Chipotle will be testing out its new Pollo Asado in select locations within Cincinnati, Ohio and Sacramento, California. This will be the Mexican restaurant chain’s first-ever menu innovation that utilizes chicken in its 28-year history.
To further embody its mission to serve responsibly source, classically cooked, real food, the new dish is composed of the brand’s Responsibly Raised chicken seasoned with a dry rub of cumin, guajillo peppers and coriander. The pre-seasoned chicken is then freshly grilled daily in small batches which are then hand-cut and finished with garlic, chili peppers, freshly squeezed lime and chopped cilantro.
“Chicken has long been the top protein choice among Chipotle guests,” said Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer of Chipotle Mexican Grill in the press release. “With the celebrated Adobo chicken recipe already on our menu, we decided it was time to add another option and our new flavorful Pollo Asado chicken is another perfect complement to our real ingredients.”
The Pollo Asado trial run will be available for a limited time only at 95 locations around Cincinnati and Sacramento starting from November 8 to November 14. Chipotle is also offering free delivery for all orders of the dish made through the brand’s app and website.
Elsewhere in food, Popeyes is celebrating National Sandwich Day with free chicken sandwiches.
