The “Gypsy King,” Tyson Fury, has knocked out Deontay Wilder to retain his WBC heavyweight title. The electric trilogy fight at T-Mobile Arena saw both fighters score multiple knockdowns, with Tyson prevailing at the end in dramatic fashion, improving his record to 31-0-1.

The grudge match between the two began with Fury hitting the canvas twice in Round 3 before his superior movement and clean punches had Wilder teetering about the ring. After dropping Wilder in Round 10, the Fury ended the fight with a vicious right hook a minute into the 11th round. Wilder was taken to the hospital after the fight as a precautionary measure following the stoppage from referee Russell Mora. A review of the judges’ scorecards showed Tyson leading unanimously leading up to the end of the fight.

Fury’s antics were on full display from the very beginning, first shown on camera warming up to “Sweet Home Alabama” in the locker room eluding to Wilder’s hometown Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In the post-fight interview, Fury serenaded the crowd with American Pie and proclaimed himself as the greatest heavyweight boxer of this generation. “I always say I am the best fighter in the world and he is the second-best. Don’t ever doubt me. When the chips are down I can always deliver,” said Fury.

Following a split draw in the first fight and a knockout victory for Fury in the second bout, this second successive victory should be enough to put a cap on the heated rivalry between the two world-class fighters.

In other news, Ryan Garcia agrees to fight Joseph Diaz Jr. in lightweight bout.
